God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars - Martin Luther

Psalm 10:1
Shark Valley Visitor's Area, Everglades National Park, July 2013
Why, O LORD, do you stand far off?
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
Psalm 10:1
Sooner or later we will experience it: the feeling that the Lord is distant, far off or even uncaring of our present situation. That when we need the Lord most, that the Lord is no where to been seen, heard or found.
The psalmist cries out these, our secret fears.
Yet, these feelings do not change the truth.
They do not diminish the power of the promise of God.
As the psalmist will later declare:
"But you do see! Indeed you note trouble and grief,
that you may take it into your hands."
Be at peace, rest in hope, for the Lord is with you, especially in the place of your greatest need, your deepest fear, where your suffering is manifest. God's promise to be with us can withstand our doubts.
